Come and see
early sketch plans for a proposed scheme of 8 affordable homes in Great
Longstone on land at the end of Edge View Drive.
In 2008, the Parish Council held an open
event, ‘a village day’, to ask Great Longstone residents what they would like
their Parish Council to do for the village.
One of the key issues identified by the community was the need for
affordable housing for local people.
In June 2009, a survey was undertaken by Isabel
Frenzel (click here for a copy), the Rural Housing Enabler for the District Council to establish if
there was a need for affordable housing and the type of homes required. The survey identified 24 households in need
of affordable housing in the Parish. Following
an extensive site search, 17 sites were appraised which was whittled down to 3
preferred sites. The proposed scheme for
8 affordable homes is on one of these preferred sites at the end of Edge View Drive.
If the scheme goes ahead, you would need
to have a strong local connection to be considered for one of these homes. Properties would be allocated through
Home-Options (www.home-options.org or
ring for a form to be sent to you on 01629 761311 or 761117. The homes would be owned and managed by Peak
District Rural Housing Association.
Please come along to the Village Hall on Wednesday 10 November
between 6 -8pm to have a look at early sketch plans of the scheme. Alison Clamp of Peak District Rural Housing
Association and Isabel Frenzel Rural Housing Enabler of Derbyshire Dales
District Council will be available to answer your questions about the proposed
scheme.
